K9 Conditioning and Feed

K9 Conditioning and Feed are SO important for your dog. Just like exercise, nutrition, and conditioning are important for us, they’re just as important for our dogs!

Here we will look at a few areas where conditioning can help your dog, and we will touch on a few areas where nutrition plays an important role.

K9 Conditioning isn’t ONLY for dogs who do sports like protection/law enforcement, agility, work livestock or hunt… it is also amazing for YOUR dog.

By spending time conditioning your dog, you are actively building muscle groups that can help preserve and delay things like hip dysplasia and other issues that dogs face when they get older.

It is excellent for overall health, and even better for very active dogs and dogs who are hiking a lot, by engaging and building on different muscle groups than are just used when hiking/running.

Staying strong keeps us more mobile and capable as we age, and the same for our dogs.

Conditioning is a lot of things!

Some examples of conditioning are:

Backpacks with slow intervals of weight increase- strengthening the regular use muscles and core muscles.

Balance exercises- utilizing muscles required to walk on a thin concrete wall or sit on a stool.

Specific strengthening exercised like those needed to pull a cart, wagon or sled.

Other benefits to conditioning for your dog besides extra energy expenditure, is actually going to be increased self confidence, body awareness, and a happier and healthier dog.

As the dog practices, gets stronger and better at their core tasks, they receive self confidence and end up being more fulfilled psychologically as well as physically.

Remember! YOUR DOG WANTS TO PLEASE YOU!

If your dog works with you as a team, watches you get excited by trying, practicing, and succeeding, the dog is more fulfilled because you are happier and the dog becomes more capable, agile, and stronger.

Its really a win win situation!

As for diet, we will just say that DIET MATTERS!

Higher quality kibble is SO IMPORTANT! Be sure to watch out for recalls because dog kibble is a PROCESSED FOOD ITEM! Click the link below to be redirected to a very reliable website, sign up, and get alerts on new recalls on different food items.

NO KIBBLE- no matter how high quality the feed- is exempt from recalls. Be Aware, and save your dog and pocket from unnecessary medical appointments/bills or untimely/painful loss of life.

We FULLY SUPPORT raw feeding. DON’T JUST believe the hype, do research and LEARN about your dog, who is in fact an OBLIGATE carnivore- no matter how domesticated your dog is.

If a veterinarian says raw feeding isn’t safe or biologically appropriate for your dog should be investigated. Vets usually are NOT nutritionists. Vets ALSO MOST OFTEN are paid heavy commissions on dog kibbles AND PROFIT off of the physical problems that NATURALLY ACCOMPANY PROCESSED FEED!

All were saying is, get a second opinion… seek out a K9 NUTRITIONIST, and do your own research.

The link below will start your journey, and is a good resource for PREY MODEL RAW FEEDING- whole animal can also be beneficial.

This isn’t for everyone, but it is for someone, and it is important for us, so we really wanted to give you an opportunity to inform and educate yourself.

Take it or leave it! Your call! We already planted the seed!
